Sitting alongside the River Clyde, New Lanark was founded in 1785 and became known internationally as a socialist utopia. It was a place of industry, community and learning.
O Street was asked to help modernise the historic village brand, cementing its relevance both as a World Heritage Site and a major UK visitor attraction. The studio opted for a clean, modern type marque.
The village is made up of many components, each of these needed its own graphic treatment. We created illustrated logos for them all, taking our inspiration from the original architectural drawings.
We built brand guidelines, including type systems and colour-ways, to streamline New Lanark’s communications.
Then and now, New Lanark has been a place for children to learn and play. O Street also had the opportunity to work on the Clearburn Nature Trail, giving youngsters a fun way to learn about nature.
We developed way-finding systems and a playground incorporating children’s drawings, paying respect to New Lanark’s educational legacy.
The animal doodles were burned into tree stumps with the help of Maklab, giving kids a way to learn by developing their curiosity.
See ya out there pals!
